the telephone message machine

is one of the world’s greatest
inventions.

seldom do I pick up the phone
to interrupt the
message
and speak directly to the
caller.

and I hardly ever phone
anybody
now
nor did I in the
past
unless it was some stupid whore
who had me by the
balls.

and they never had
answering machines
just pills
and an utter overevaluation of
self,
especially by
me.
