the old big time

finally weakened
sent in for the 1982-3
copy of
WHO’S WHO IN AMERICA.

it came in a huge
box,
two volumes.

I pulled them out
and Linda opened one
to ‘Bukowski’.

“Jesus,” she said,
“you’ve only listed
about
one-sixth of your
works.
these other guys
run on and
on…”

I told her,
“the editors also
asked for some
comment upon
life, some
philosophy.”

“what’s yours?”

“didn’t they put
it in?” I asked.

“it’s at the
end,” she said
“it says:   ‘don’t
try’.”

“right,” I answered,
“what’s good on
TV tonight?”

I want to bring all of Bukowski's poems online and make then freely available. This means hundreds of hours of work to retype over 1,000 of his poems from the original manuscripts. Your donations will help support this work.
