idols in the fight through darkness

I have a photo of Baron Manfred von Richtoven
standing with his buddies
and there’s a photo of his fighter plane
and further down the wall
is a photo of a red
three-winged fokker in
flight.

the few people who have come into this
room (where I sometimes
work out nights)
have seen these things
but don’t say
anything.

that’s good.
but between you and me
much of this
got me through a childhood
that was much less than
pleasant.

after that, it was up to
me.
but I still don’t mind having old
friends
hanging around.

especially,
that kind.
