I am chastised

she was driving the car.
there was a disagreement about
something.
she parked it and we got out
to go to the cafe to eat
and I told her:
“without me, you are nothing.
and with me, you are less.”

she said, “you know, I really
dislike you when you go on your
beer binges, you act so
superior!”

I didn’t answer.
we entered, were lead to a
table and opened our
menus.

“I’ll have a Chinese beer,”
I told the waitress,
“now.”
