A.D. 701-62

the more I drink these nights
the more I begin to feel like
Li Po:
drink wine and write
poems
write poems and drink
wine

all the time
sensing the limitations of
being
human

then
accepting that

the wine and the poems
intermixing:

there is a peaceable place
found
in the
war:

things
such as
light, shadow, sound,
object
become
gently
fascinating.

Li Po
drunk on his
wine
knew that
just to know a
little
was
best.
