Beer and Cigars (via telephone)

ya?

this is ——–, how you
doing?

everything’s
all right.

I saw your poem in —— ——. that’s
quite a magazine.

yes, it is.

listen, when can I come
over?

I guess a Sunday or a Monday night would
be best.

I don’t want to interrupt your
writing.

it’s all
right.

I’ll bring cigars and
beer.

fine.

you know, when I was in England at this
poetry reading, Bly and those, I
met this
woman. she was very
surprised when I told her that
I know you.   ‘hell,’ I said, ‘we’re from the
same city’.

that’s right, isn’t it?

o.k., then, some Sunday or Monday night, beer and
cigars.   I won’t interrupt your
writing?

oh, no.
